Our New Little Sister

On Sunday, January 30th at 8:00 a.m., my Mom started having contractions 25 minutes apart. Mikelann, the mid-wife that was actually going to deliver the baby, has one weekend off every month and this was the weekend she had off.  Her replacement was Kathy from Jackson Hole, WY.  Her assistant, Emily, was also an R.N. They gave Mom a big ball to bounce on while she was having her contractions. Mom went into her room and she got into the tub. After she got out, they told her to go to the bathroom. Then she went onto the bed and 10 minutes later, the baby was born. My Mom was excited because the baby was born at 2:47 p.m. in the middle of the day! She weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. She is sooooooooo cute!!!!!

Here she is after she was born:
Miss Emily let us listen to the baby's heart with the stethoscope:

Winter Animal Sightings

We were going into town one day and we saw 4 buffalo right in the street! We could tell there were a couple of teens, because they were going soooo slow..............they were texting and listening to their iPod at the same time!! ;)

We got invited by our friends, the Shorts, to go look at a cougar on Saturday morning. They said somebody had treed it and that there were some people with spotting scopes looking at her. She was trying to get to her kits, but all the people that were up there were all around the tree, so she couldn't get down. But finally, she jumped down and ran off into the forest.  (I was to much of a wimp to go up there and see it. But I got to see it through the scope).   *Bennett had my Mom's old camera and he took some pictures of it, but we can't find the little thing that plugs into the computer, to download the pictures.*

We got about 5 1/2 - 6 inches of snow last night! Not including all the snow that was already on the ground.  My Mom is wondering if she has the baby in this kind of weather......we better bring a flashlight with us when she is in labor!!!!

We also saw some deer (Mama and baby) right outside Mom and Dad's bedroom window. They were eating our trees.

The deer are behind the car.

Here is what it looked like when we woke up.

Fiona decided to shave a little bit in the bath (the razor has no blade):

Our Chicken Made out of Steel

We have a chicken that has survived a weasel, coyote and a grizzly bear (with 2 cubs) attack. It will not die. It is made out of steel! ;)

Here are some pictures of our surviving chicken. We had 13 and this is the only one that survived. (Look at its neck. The grizzly bear chewed it off, in August 2010):

Here is the Grizzly bear and 2 cubs that came to the property (Notice how they are sniffing the air):

They passed the chicken coop and went down to the river to get a drink:

Then when they came back up from the river, they smelled the chickens. The Mama bear was mad because she couldn't get in the chicken coop. So she went around to the back of the chicken coop and made a hole in it. She called for her cubs and started grabbing the chickens eating them.

This is what she was doing in the front; trying to get in:

We had a birthday party for my Mom's Uncle, Paul last night.  Dan and Becky came over too. I made a cherry dump cake for him.

Here is everybody at the table:

Toothless Preston

*Unfortunately, I forgot my memory card at home when we were in Bozeman, so I only have 1 picture for today.*

Yesterday, Preston's front two teeth were really loose. He lost one while he was in bed that morning. And then, when we got home from Bozeman,  he didn't want to pull his other one out, because he thought it would really hurt, but as he was running, it fell right out of his mouth and onto the ground!

It is really hard for him to say 'S' right now. ;)

My Mom is about to give birth and we have had to go to Bozeman every week for her appointments. Yesterday, on our way there, the roads were really snowy. It was really hard to see, because there was blowing snow.   On our way back, we saw flashing lights and we found out there was a car that had flipped off the highway and onto the median. We are wondering what the weather will be like when she really comes!

Today, I have my memory card, so I will have more pictures for you tomorrow. :)

Buffalo Across The River

On Monday we woke up and saw 5 Buffalo across the river. The horses didn't really like it.  They were bucking and kicking like they were in a rodeo!

You can see the buffalo in this photo across the river, behind the horses:

Mom invited friends over for Dinner and we made homemade pizza dough and toppings. (Barbecue Chicken) YUM! P.S.  - I made brownies for dessert, and Dad brought home some vanilla ice cream to go on top of them.

Skating Birthday Party

On Saturday, our family was invited to my friend Emma's birthday party up in Mammoth at the free outdoor skating rink.  It was really fun. Plus, I learned a new trick; how to spin on my tip toes!

Fiona got new skates (at the thrift store), and we got her hot pink laces. She was sooooo proud of herself!

I had a gift certificate to Kellem's Saddelry Shop in Gardiner. I got this skirt I have been looking at every time I go there. I love it!
