The Hoffsommer's-hotsummer vacation

On Thursday (June 30th), our friends the Hoffsommer's from Port Orchard, Washington came and visited us.  Mrs. Hoffsommer was one of my Aunt Julie's best friends in college. My Mom loves her too. They have 4 daughters and one son. They arrived late Thursday night and left the morning of July 5th (Bennett's birthday). We had a really fun time with them!!

We walked down to the beach to show them how high the river is. It was even higher than before!

Cassie and Claire.

Grant and Preston playing in the dirt!

Grant and Fiona.

Taking the loop walk:

Dad and Mr. Hoffsommer put in 4 windows together. Thank you Mr. Hoffsommer!

All us girls went shopping at all the gift shops in Gardiner so they could get souvenirs.

When we came back, Claire, Grant, Preston and Fiona were jumping on the trampoline.

They wanted to ride Woody, so that evening they took turns riding him around the field with my Dad's help.

On Saturday, we went to the Livingston parade. The Hoffsommer's were in Yellowstone, so we went ahead of them and met them there. It was so hot, but we found a spot in the shade!

When we got back home from that hot day, we all had ice cream cones and Grant decided to share some with Peanut the cat...he licked some and then gave some to the cat and then licked it again.

We also took them on a 4th of July hike into Yellowstone to take the Beaver Ponds/Golden Gate trail up in Mammoth. All the trees gave a nice shade (our car thermometer said it was 105 degrees outside!).

The Hoffsommer family:  Mr. and Mrs. Hoffsommer, Cassie, Jill, Paige, Claire and Grant.

When we came back, we started to shoot off fireworks in the field.

Then that night, we went down the river to go see more fireworks. They were really cool!

On July 5th, they had to leave to go back to Port Orchard. :'( We had so much fun with them!!

Their last jump on the tramp!

Jill started a book in the middle of their visit, and she just had to finish the last 16 pages before they left for Washington!

They left on Bennett's birthday, so after they drove away, we went to Bozeman to go see the movie Cars 2 in 3D. It was really fun!

Before we left for Bozeman, Bennett got to open some of his presents.

A remote controlled helicopter (he LOVES this!).

Bionicle!

Money!

Legos!!

In the theatre!

Then we went to Fuddruckers for Dinner!

Bennett had charged his new helicoptor all day while we were in Bozeman, so that when he came back he could fly it.

That night for Bennett's birthday, we invited Uncle Paul, Aunt Mary Ann and her friend Stan up for homemade peach pie and ice cream. It was so yummy!

Matilda liked my 3D glasses I brought home from the movie! ;)

Bennett got another birthday package from Grandma in the mail. It included a bugle horn...Mom's new rule is to keep it outside.

He also got a buffalo ring.

Today, we went outside and cleaned up the yard. We have a hand-mower that we used to cut the grass...it looks so much better!

We also had a picnic lunch out on the porch swing because it was so nice outside.

Dad thought Matilda was getting hot, so he took off her pants and her cloth diaper!

It was so hot that Bennett, Preston and Fiona pulled out a tarp and a sprinkler and made their own homemade slip and slide. They were so happy!

Mom is trying out cloth diapers on Matilda for the summer.
