A Day in Indy...

On May 6th, we went to downtown Indianapolis to have a Sunday afternoon walk. It was so hot that day, that we had to go down to the Indianapolis Canal to get cooled off. Everybody walked up the Monument Tower (I didn't because of my sprained ankle). When we got to the canal, we soaked our feet in the cold water and then Aunt Julie gave us another portrait lesson. Mom, Dad and I were the models...it was fun! :)

Walking back to the car....another long hot walk!

Haha! We spotted this sign in front of a building!

Tilly loved her iced cookie from the Kroger bakery clearance section! =) Yummy...

Fiona, Matilda, Silas and Macy eating popsicles on a hot day! :)

The boys all got buzz cuts for the summer....

Dad built a whole new fence in their backyard for the MacDonald's while we were there. The Home Depot delivered fence material and all the kids watched with fascination as the delivery guy used the forklift to lift off the material. :)

The new fence....

...taking away the old fence.

Dad was so busy with the work, that he ate lunch outside on the sawhorses and fence material!

Macy got her award from AWANA!

Preston made a robot out of K'NEX.

Working on the fence....it was so hot! Good thing he was in the shade.

Dad built a fort for the kids out of old fencing material.

Finished!

Cinco de Mayo Festival!

On May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) we had a party with the MacDonald's friends, the Delgado's. Mrs. Delgado brought most of the food and it was delicious! Aunt Julie made Queso, which is a melted cheese dip that you eat with tortilla chips and it is the best. I think we could have eaten it out of a mug with a straw (especially Bennett)! Here is the Queso recipe (the very best!):

Queso

1 pound white American cheese from the deli
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 8 ounce block cream cheese
1 can chopped jalapenos (start with a quarter can and add more to taste)

Melt over medium heat until smooth. Gets thicker as it cools down. Good to keep in small crock pot. Enjoy!

Bennett ate a lot of Queso (worth making!).

Mom, Mrs. Delgado and Aunt Julie.

They made lots of food!!

Macy, Alexis Delgado and Preston.

They also made Mojitos for their afternoon cocktail!

Alexis, the monkey...:)

I couldn't really do much, because I sprained my ankle! :/

The Delgado's brought steak strips!

Mrs. Delgado also made homemade rice!

Mom made shredded chicken tacos...yum!

Eating on the screened porch.

Tilly wore Silas' helmet while we ate!

This picture is kind of dark, but at least we got one of everybody!!
