2012 MidSouth Homeschool Convention!

On April 14th, we split up into two cars and drove to downtown Memphis to attend the 2012 MidSouth Homeschool Convention. When we got there, we walked around the building and stopped at all sorts of booths. Some of them were selling curriculum or education games etc. It was fun to see lots of other homeschoolers since out in Gardiner, we are one of the few. We bought a few things to take back with us and it was a really fun outing!

Mom and I got dressed up before heading out. :)

Inside the building.

Mom, checking out the books.

After the convention, we drove down to Mud Island and went to their "Rock-n-Romp" festival, which included:  free BBQ (my Mom and Aunt Jill loved that!), free beer for adults, water pools to play in and free music (which was kind of awkward). We had fun "people watching" and we even found out about "grass sledding" where you ride a cardboard box down a huge hill of grass. Even though we went "sledding" when it was 85 degrees out, we still had fun. :)

Walking from our cars to Mud Island....Aunt Jill treated us to ice cream bars, because it was so hot!!

The Mississippi River separated Tennessee from Arkansas.

We were so close, we could almost touch it!

Mud Island had little rivers and pools.

Fiona and I standing in one of the rivers.

My pork sandwich!!

Bennett and Dad eating their free lunch!

Preston and his free meal!

The pools were way too crowded so we didn't swim.

The pools and me. :)

Sliding down the grass hill on cardboard boxes.

On the way home from Mud Island, Preston fell asleep in the back seat!

We went and saw the Hunger Games at the movie theatre!

The next day the kids played in their new pool from Walmart-fall-apart!

Mom and I found Miss Me jeans at the Goodwill bins (they retail for $110, but we got them for 50 cents each)!

Aunt Jill's neighborhood has a few ponds and these new goslings now live in one!

Aunt Jill and Mom went shopping one day and Grandma and I baby-sat Fiona, Dakota and Sierra in the car. As you can see, Grandma didn't last but a minute in the back seat!
