Christmas Tree Hunting

After buying our $5 tag from the Forest Service, we set out on a mission to find a Christmas tree in Yankee Jim Canyon. With seven different opinions, it took us three hours. Yes, three hours!!! Our outcome at the end of the day was a pretty good tree and seven exhausted people. We set it up in the living room and decorated it with the lightest ornaments we had, because the branches weren't that strong. The three hours that it took to find a good one was really worth it because we had a fun time hiking around!

Mom is holding a can of bear spray! We saw a fresh elk leg under a tree and we got out of there quickly...

The boys are standing by the old road, blasted out of rocks.

Six inch tree anybody?

Hiking around...

Inspecting an option.

This cool old rock had an advertisement from the early 1900s! We were on the old railroad bed.

We found the one! Six inches above the stump, 100 feet away from the water and under 12 feet tall!

Dragging it up the hill.

We made it fit up there...:)

It fits perfectly!

 Decorating the tree...
