Setting up the Tipi Part II

About a week ago, we started to set up the tipi that Uncle Paul had loaned us. We decided that we didn't like the location of the tipi, so we moved it down onto the field by the river. The poles were way too heavy to carry all the way down there, so we borrowed Uncle Paul's trailer.

When we got down there, there was a buffalo in the field, right where we were going to set up the tipi! But my Dad still wanted to set it up.....the buffalo didn't mind, but still, it was pretty close!

His buddy joined him:

All hands on deck (animals included)!!

1. - Poles....check!

2. - Canvas....check!

The next morning when we woke up, the tipi had burst at the seam, because of the strong wind.  Then we had to take the whole thing down! But before that, we had a "buffalo roundup" to get them out of the field with Dad's '88 Izuzu pickup truck............;)

The boys had to put the trampoline back up, because the buffalo had rubbed against it and wrecked it!

Look on the ground: buffalo fur.

After taking down the tipi, we were all starving. Dad decided to make some "turtle soup" from Tina the Turtle that died about, oh, 3 months ago. ;) We had left it outside for a while and nothing got it! Amazing! Dad got a old bowl that he uses for boiling wax, but instead he was going to use it for Tina soup..........gross (we set her on top of the burn barrel)!

We also decided to build a garden where my Great-Grandmother used to have hers. So we got the hoes and shovels out and started to dig up the soil. Everybody helped!

Preston jumped on the trampoline after we were done gardening:
