Matilda's check-up

On June 9th, we went to Livingston for Matilda's 4 month check-up (shots). It was the first time she has gotten shots. She did really well. And, she weighed 15 pounds 10 ounces!

While we were in Livingston, we also had an appointment for the Suburban. While the Suburban was at the car shop, we took a walk to a park down the street. The boys wanted to make a scene in the tall grass, so I took pictures of them.  They wanted to make it look like Bennett was trying to save Preston from the evil monster underneath the grass....

We had a really fun time at the park. We made obstacles with all the things that were there. We had to be really fast, because Dad was timing us on his phone!

On Tuesday, we went to Mammoth for a summer program called Exploring Yellowstone. We went to the visitors' center for a Wolf talk and then took a hike around the terraces. A new terrace has been created up there and it is touching the boardwalk! Mrs. Johnson has 3 temperature gauges for thermal areas. The highest we got was 133 degrees!

These are wolf skins.

This is a branch that fell into the terrace.

This is the temperature gauge that we used. Look! 127 degrees!

On Wednesday, Mom saw the same bull snake (we think) laying on the rock wall right by our steps. It was soaking up the sun. The bull snake was right where Dad was working. Then Dad picked it up with a rake and carried it up in the weeds. It was hissing the whole time!

Yesterday, we saw several families of geese with their (teenage) goslings. They were so cute when they were wobbling around, following their mommies!

Dad invented a new toy for Mailda...an empty bag of Doritos, so she could chew on it and hear the sound. She loves it!

Yesterday, for Explore Yellowstone, we went on a hike to Rescue Creek. Mrs. Johnson told us that the Army used to play golf on this open field for entertainment. So she asked us to try to find a golf ball...no luck! But we did find a bullet that wasn't shot. It was really old. They had an old target range there too. It was a big cement wall. We found lots of bullets there as well.

This is the Montana's state flower called the Bitter root.

This is the old Army target range.

Dad has been busy trying to install windows. He prepped them today and then invited Ron Burke and Uncle Paul to come and help him put them in. Now the windows look crystal clear!
