The Superbowl!

It seems like so long ago, but on February 5th, Aunt Jill invited some of her small group friends over for a Superbowl party. Her friends brought over dips, cheese sauce (my favorite!!), cookies etc. All the guys watched the Superbowl, the ladies chatted (big surprise) and all the little kids played in the playroom. I made a cake that looked like a football field with the quarterbacks in the "end zones". Go Giants! :)

My cake! :)

I cut out the quarterbacks and stuck them in the cake. :)

Aunt Jill found this idea on Pinterest, where you wrap your hair around a sock and then sleep on it overnight.  In the morning it is supposed to be curly, but mine turned out to be wavy...:)

We did an "Insanity" workout session in the office. We all thought we were going to faint afterwards!! Water is our new best friend...

David Crowder Band Concert!

About a week before February 2nd, we heard that David Crowder (make sure that your volume is low, because when you get to the website it will play his music automatically) was coming to Aunt Jill and Uncle Jeff's church. I saw him last summer when I went with Youth Group to Great Falls, MT. But when we wanted to get tickets, they were sold out!! So we posted an ad on Craigslist to see if anybody could give us their leftover tickets. We met the guy who gave us the tickets at Church and then headed into the sanctuary to watch the concert! **I only got a few pictures, because I took more videos than pictures, but I can't get the videos loaded onto the blog!**

The Sanctuary!

David Crowder (apparently he doesn't have his band anymore, just his guitar player!).

Playing on the Playground!

The kids love to play on the Koontz's backyard playset almost every day after they are done with their school. They get along great and they make up very creative games so they stay outside for hours!!

Hi Fiona!

Sierra Jane!

Mom and Tilly soaking up the sun!

It was a beautiful day to play outside and we had so much fun! This is their barn:

Scoot Dog loved the sun, too!

Aunt Jill had to leave for work that day (she and Uncle Jeff are both FedEx pilots), so Mom was getting last minute instructions to help take care of Dakota and Sierra.

The NCRM and Downtown Memphis!

On February 1st, Mom, Dad, Bennett, Matilda and I went to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. I thought it was cool that the museum is inside the original Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Dad printed off a question sheet for Bennett and I to fill out while we walked around the museum. They gave you audio headphones to listen to as you walked. The museum was AWESOME, but they didn't let you take pictures inside, only outside! :(

The Lorraine Motel:

The exact place where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated...on the balcony of motel room 306.

These cars weren't original to the site, but there were some similar to these when he was assassinated.

This is the window at the rooming house across the street where James Earl Ray (the assassinator) shot Dr. King.

It was such an amazing museum and we would recommend it to other people who visit Memphis!

After we left the NCRM, we drove down to Beale Street to walk around and see if there were any good restaurants. We were hungry after spending most of our day at the museum! Beale Street was CROWDED even on a weekday and there were some very interesting people there...:)

This is AutoZone Park, where the Memphis Redbirds play. :)

Beale (it is known for its music and food) Street!

Bennett, Mom, Tilly and me.

There was a kid about Bennett's age (10) who was doing back-flips all the way down Beale Street (which is pretty long)!!

We saw this limousine on Beale Street...it was huge!

Memphis BBQ..."Pork with an Attitude!" :)

This Pumpkin Carriage would be fun to ride!

We stopped by the Peabody Hotel to see the ducks. It was really neat!

The Lobby:

The ducks swam in the middle of the lobby...

By this time, we were STARVING so we stopped at a pizza joint and ate lunch outside on the sidewalk...we got to "people watch"!
