Conner Prairie!

On May 11th, we went to Conner Prairie with Mrs. Delgado and her girls. Conner Prairie is an interactive history museum for all ages. It ranges from pottery making to hatchet throwing. The employees dress up and make it seem like it was still in the early 1800's. There was even a schoolhouse with a dressed up teacher inside who told you all about what they did in school back then. It was very interesting and fun (and hot)!

The Conner Prairie Balloon. We didn't go on it, but it looked like fun!

The Golden Eagle....a cute little house that you could walk in and pretend that you are living there. Inside, there are beds, a kitchen, living room, sitting room with a fireplace (they actually had it going!).

These beds were super comfy! Even though it was only rope and a comforter! :)

Looking out the window...

More bed pictures! :)

Macy thought it was comfy, too!

Nicole and Alexis taking a rest. :)

The barn:

The Garden:

Macy, Fiona and Nicole in the outhouse. Anyone need a corn husk? :)

An Iris in the garden.

Nicole, Macy and Alexis in the garden.

We could whack these blankets with brooms. The kids had a blast (usually Moms tell you not to whack things, but in this case....)

"Dr. Campbell's House" was for sale.

Looks pretty cozy to me! :)

After debating whether or not we would buy Dr. Campbell's house, we walked over to the pottery store. :)

Notice how the bottoms of the clay are darker and the top is lighter. The dark means it is still wet and the lighter shade is dry. :)

Nicole playing on the stilts.

A carpenter working in one of the houses.

More flower pictures....:)

Talking to who-knows-who about his sore throat. We found a cure! =)

This desk was awesome because it had a feather and ink.

Bennett, pumping out water for our daily supply. :)

The herb garden:

Drying the meat in a shack.

Nicole and Bennett looking at the herbs that they were drying in this house. It smelled so good in there!

A cute 4 poster bed.

Pretty China...

The schoolhouse was probably my favorite stop. There was even a teacher in there to answer your questions. We learned that it was 3 cents a day to go to school there....only for the rich! :)

The school teacher.

A fire pit to cook meat.

A blacksmith working in his shop. It was so hot outside, I couldn't imagine being near that fireplace all day!

The schoolhouse....recess! :)

Where is my rifle? There is a wolf outside my wagon! :)

Nicole, Silas and Alexis peeking out of the wagon. :)

Walking through the bridge.

President Abraham Lincoln

This guy looked so realistic!

There were some dressed up people at this store that walked you around inside and they actually played a real scene!

So...heavy....:)

The Porter Family Home. They had about a gazillion and one rooms!

Pumping water.

A pretty road with overhanging trees that looked picturesque! :)

Inside a museum, kids got to climb bridges or tunnels.

Taking the tram home....how we got everybody to squeeze on there, I don't know! The old man driver went faster than a jet and we all hung on for dear life!!

Shetland Ponies are so cute!

We threw a hatchet at a piece of wood...the Indian that was watching us told us what to do and when to do it.

Wil, giving it a try.

My hatchet skills are...okay. :)

Alexis and Nicole in a homemade canoe.

Silas in the canoe.

Sisters....

I was the model for the portrait session. It was fun!

In the museum, they had this ball where if you touched it with you finger, it would follow your finger movements!

Leaving...

We waited for Dad and Uncle Mike to pick us up in the RV since the van was in the shop and Uncle Mike took his car to work. It was quite a sight when all the people looked over to see something rolling into the parking lot...the Sundancer. :)

We took more photos while we were waiting.

The kids goofing off while saying, "Are they here yet?"

The arrival of the beast...

The adults had a double date in the dining room (they even lit candles!) while us "outsiders" ate well, outside!

Preston made a cross out of leftover wood from the old fencing material.

Wil, making something out of wood. :)

I rode Uncle Mike's bike while we visited them.
